Stockport Villa FC delivers a full-time football and education player programme in partnership with Pro Direct Academy for young talented footballers aged 16-19 years who would like to study a full-time sports qualification: a BTEC Level 3 in Sport (equivalent to 3 A-levels).

BTEC LEVEL 3 EXTENDED DIPLOMA IN SPORTS COACHING & DEVELOPMENT

Based in Hough End, Manchester.

Monday-Friday all players will study the following core units over a two year period:

• Careers in the Sport and Active Leisure Industry​
• Wellbeing and Sport​
• Developing Coaching Skills​
• Applied Coaching Skills​
• Research Project in Sport​
• Sport Development​
• Self-employment in Sport and Physical Activity​
• Sports Psychology​
• Nutrition for Physical Performance​
• Anatomy and Physiology in Sport​
• Sporting Injuries​
• Functional Sports Massage​
• Fitness Testing​
• Fitness Training​

Alongside your main programme of study, you will also study either GCSE or Functional Skills in English and Maths if you have not achieved a GCSE grade 4 or above. If you have achieved a grade 4 or above in GCSE English and Maths, you will engage in extending these skills through a Directed Study Programme.

SPORTING EXCELLENCE

Throughout your programme, you will spend a minimum of 6 hours per week focusing on your football development as well as the opportunity to play competitively on a Wednesday.

All taking place Monday - Friday

You will complete a Player Performance Profile, which will include fitness testing, evaluation of your playing attributes, a SWOT analysis, and game time and injury reviews.​

During your programme, you will benefit from:

  • Regular appraisal to monitor development both on and off the pitch


WEEKEND EXCELLENCE - CHEADLE HEATH NOMADS


Throughout your Education programme, opportunities to progress and play within Cheadle Heath Nomads on weekends will be on offer, subject to a successful trial.

All taking place Thursday evenings for training and playing on weekends.

Saturday Afternoon – First Team/Reserve Team Football

Sunday Afternoon – U18’s North West Youth Alliance & FA Youth Cup.

During your programme, you will benefit from:

  • Regular training from highly qualified coaches​
  • Opportunities to play in competitive fixtures Cheshire League & NWCFL & NWYA​
  • Guidance on individual fitness​
  • Nutritional advice​
  • Regular appraisal to monitor development both on and off the pitch with the director of youth development at the club
